Dr. Shamzaeffa Samsudin is an associate professor at School of Economics, Finance and Banking, Universiti Utara Malaysia. She was graduated from University of York , UK (MSc. Public Economics, 2002) and University of East Anglia (PhD, 2010). Her research focuses on health and health care economics, and public economics issues like poverty and ageing population. She has written papers on health care utilisation using microeconometric analysis, distribution of the livelihood assets among the hardcore poor, women and elderly health and health care demand, and hospitals efficiency. Her work has appeared, among others, in Journal of Health Management, Malaysian Journal of Economic Studies, Journal of Cross-Cultural Gerontology, Journal of Social Economics Research, Journal of Governance and Development etc. She has received several university and national grants related to her reserach area. She is willing to supervise students in the area of health and health care economics, ageing population, and public economics.
