AZIZAH BINTI OTHMAN, PhD, Associate Professor at Islamic Business School (IBS), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Sintok Kedah of Malaysia. She has been appointed as Deputy Director of Institut Penyelidikan dan Inovasi Zakat (IPIZ) – Institute of Zakat Research and Innovation. Her areas of specialization include the studies in Islamic Management and Muamalat, Islamic Finance and Halal Management. She completed her Master of Art (Civilization) in 2000 and received her Ph.D degree in 2015 from the Universiti Sains Malaysia, Pulau Pinang. She has been appointed as a lecturer since 2000 under Sekolah Pembangunan Sosial, UUM and she joined IBS since the establishment of the school in July 2011 until now. Since 2011, she has been appointed to be part of the school management team as a community service program, member of quality unit, research and publication unit and also as a research manager of IPIZ for 3 years (2018-2020). She is also active in research where she has involved in research group on ‘The impact of service learning on students' lifelong-learning and social skills for islamic marketing course’, ‘Determination of Uruf Zakat in Kedah’, ‘Factors affecting the Business Performance of Asnaf Entrepreneurs’, ‘ Effectiveness of zakat distribution in Education Development among asnaf in Kedah’ and ‘Development of continuous compliance model for Malaysian Halal Certification for SMEs’ . She has been a lecturer since 2000 and has been teaching several Muamalat and Islamic Finance courses including Zakat, Wakaf and Baitulmal Management, Fiqh Muamalat, Islamic Finance Management, Takaful, Islamic Ethics in Business, Theory and practice of Islamic businessa, Management aspect in al-Quran and al-Hadis, Theory and philosophy of muamalat and Muamalat management. She also appointed as research fellow for IPIZ and associate fellow for Institute Halal Management.
