OVERVIEW
Dr. Selamah Maamor is an accomplished academic with a Ph.D. in Economics from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Bangi. She currently holds the position of Associate Professor at Islamic Business School (IBS), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) located in Sintok, Kedah, Malaysia. In May 2023, she was appointed as Deputy Director (International Accreditation) at the Centre of International Affairs and Cooperation (CIAC) within UUM. Previously, Dr. Selamah served as the Director of Institut Penyelidikan dan Inovasi Zakat (IPIZ) - Institute of Zakat Research and Innovation. Her research interests revolve around applied Islamic economics, Islamic micro-finance, and Islamic management. Dr. Selamah has been an integral part of UUM since 2000 when she began her career as a lecturer under the Faculty of Economics. When the Islamic Business School (IBS) was established in July 2011, she joined the school and has been an active member ever since. Throughout her tenure, Dr. Selamah has held various management roles within the school. She served as a coordinator for undergraduate and postgraduate programs, community service programs, as well as the Head of Department. She progressed to become the Deputy Dean and eventually took on the role of Director of the Institute of Shariah Governance and Islamic Finance (ISGaIF) in UUM. Additionally, she serves as the manager of AACSB Unit, showcasing her dedication to academic excellence and accreditation. Dr. Selamah is deeply involved in research, contributing to research groups working on topics such as 'The Ummah’s Economic Development Program,' 'Effectiveness of Islamic Microfinance,' 'Transformation of Cooperative to a Bank,' 'Utilization of Waqf Properties,' 'B40s' need on Micro Takaful,' and 'Estate Planning and Distribution Management.' Apart from her research pursuits, she is actively engaged in teaching various economics courses. These courses include research methodology, academic writing, Islamic economics, principles of economics, macroeconomics, mathematical economics, Islamic economics system, and managerial economics. Her diverse expertise and contributions to academia demonstrate her commitment to the advancement of Islamic economics and her dedication to enhancing the academic landscape at Universiti Utara Malaysia.
