Edie is currently a Senior Lecturer (Banking & Finance) at the Department of Banking and Risk Management, School of Economics, Finance and Banking, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). Prior to his appointment at UUM, he was an executive at Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank) and a senior executive at Malaysian Electronic Payment Systems Sdn. Bhd. (MEPS). Edie received a doctorate degree in Banking and Finance from the University of St Andrews (2019) and an MBA in Islamic Banking and Finance (with Distinction) from Bangor University (2014). He graduated with a BBA (Hons) Islamic Banking (2011) and a Diploma in Banking (2009) from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), in which he received two times Vice Chancellor Award. His research interest focuses on bank capital, banking competition, bank payout policy, and financial safety nets. His work has been published in the Journal of Financial Stability (WoS Q1) with a paper about bank dividend policy and deposit insurance. He also has several working papers on bank competition and bank payout policies.
